Northeast Kingdom Trail Closures & Alerts

CALEDONIA COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Danville/Peacham Area
Corridor 2 is closed between the following intersections: CA 11, CA 14, CA 15, CA 16 and CA 20.  Corridor 2 south from CA 108 as well as Corridor 234 from CA 109 are dead end trails that are open for local access only.

Hardwick                                                                                                                  Corridor 14 into Hardwick (D & L Beverage, House of Pizza) at CA 52 is closed.  You must take an alternate route to access the services in Hardwick.

 Danville                                                                                                                Corridor 51 has a logging operation taking place between intersections CA38 and CA59.  Use caution and watch for ruts and mud.

Lyndonville                                                                                                                  There is no legal crossing along the railroad tracks near Northeast Agricultural Sales.  The club has fenced this areas off as illegal use of the railroad Right of Way will result in fines and loss of the trail.  If you wish to access Northeast Agricultural Sales or other businesses in town you can park at the Asia Restaurant where the trail ends, and walk from there.

Groton                                                                                                                  Corridor 232 has an ongoing logging operation approximately 5 miles up from Ricker Pond near intersection CA 4.  Use caution in this area.

County-Wide                                                                                                           There is a curfew and posted speed limit on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.  The curfew is posted from 11PM to 6AM, and the speed limit is 35 MPH.  These will be enforced by law enforcement agencies as future use of this trail depends on compliance.

 

ESSEX COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

East Haven
Corridor 1 is closed between intersections  EX521 and EX 523 due to a logging operation.

Canaan
Corridor 105 between intersections EX 8 and EX 9 is closed due to a logging operation.

 

ORLEANS COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Newport Center/Jay
OS 73 (Cook's Equipment) to OS 16 is closed.   

The Country Riders are reporting a great deal of ice damage along parts of their trail system.  The following areas are still closed due to downed trees from the ice storm last weekend:  OS 37 to OS 62 and OS 35 to Vermont Route 105.  OS 37 to OS 62 is passable by snowmobile only as it is only cut out approximately 4 feet wide.  The section between OS 35 and Vermont Route 105 will be closed for the season due to the significant amount of damage.                                                     

Albany                                                                                                                 Corridor 14 has an ongoing logging operation taking place along it approximately 2 miles north of Albany Village.  Use caution and watch for equipment in the trail.

Lowell/Westfield                                                                                                   Corridor 100 (2 miles north of OS 60) there will be a logging and sugaring operations taking place.  It is heavily signed so please obey signage and respect the generous landowner who is the one sugaring and logging.                                                                                                     
County-Wide                                                                                                                       A number of clubs within the county have reported significant ice damage from the freezing rain that came through last weekend.  The weight of the ice brought down many trees, tree tops and limbs into the trail.  The clubs have been working to remove the debris, but there is only so much time and man power.  Use caution and be on the lookout for debris in the trails.

Northwest Vermont Trail Closures & Alerts

FRANKLIN COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

County-Wide                                                                                                                     There is a curfew and posted speed limit on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.  The curfew is posted from 11PM to 6AM, and the speed limit is 35 MPH.  These will be enforced by law enforcement agencies as future use of this trail depends on compliance.


GRAND ISLE COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Alburg                                                                                                                            Snowmobiles must stay on the trail is the Sand Dunes State Park. The club has worked hard to get a trail through this area and any problems of snowmobiles operating off the trail will result in immediate closure with no re-route option available. We are priveledged to be able to ride here so please respect it!


LAMOILLE COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Eden
Corridor Trail 118 from Unlce Bills to LE 36 is closed due to a logging operation.

Stowe
Corridor 100 (Shaw Hill) is closed.

County-Wide                                                                                                                     There is a curfew and posted speed limit on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.  The curfew is posted from 11PM to 6AM, and the speed limit is 35 MPH.  These will be enforced by law enforcement agencies as future use of this trail depends on compliance.

Champlain Valley Trail Closures & Alerts

ADDISON COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Middlebury/Goshen                                                                                                     Please note that Corridor 7A between Silver Lake and Forest Dale has a curfew posted between the hours of 9:00 P.M. and 7:00 A.M. Snowmobiles may not travel this section of trail between these hours at the request of the landowners in the area. Please obey the signs and follow instructions or the trail will be closed. When headed South there is an alternate route that crosses Lake Dunmore and comes onto Corridor 7 in Salisbury. This crossing is useable only during mid winter when ice conditions on the lake permit a safe crossing. Plan your trip accordingly.

 

CHITTENDEN COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Colchester
Corridor 7 (Malletts Creek Crossing) is closed due to unsafe ice conditions.

Hinesburg                                                                                                                             There is a curfew on the developement at the Huntington end of the Hollow Road from 7PM to 8AM.  The landowner will close the trail if the curfew is violated.

Huntington
Corridor 116C from the Hollow Road to Charlie Smith Lot will be closed until further notice!

Central Vermont Trail Closures & Alerts

ORANGE COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Randolph
Corridor 66F to the Three Stallion Inn is closed. This cuts off a connection between Bethel and Randoph.  A section of this trail will be used as a feeder for local riders to gain access to the trail, but it is no longer a thru trail.

Washington
Corridor 14A between intersections OE92 & OE90 is closed.

Southeast Vermont Trail Closures & Alerts

 WINDHAM COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Weston                                                                                                                                All trails in the Town of Weston are under curfew per order of the selectboard between the hours of 10 PM and 7 AM.  Snowmobiles may not travel on trails in town between these hours or access will be lost. This curfew is striclty enforced so please obey signage in all areas. Also note that Moses Pond Road is posted at 25 MPH maximum speed limit per order of the selectboard. If problems continue in this area riding priveledges will be lost for good so you make the choice.

Wardsboro                                                                                                              Corridor 710 through Wardsboro has many open water bars, mud, and brooks opened up that are difficult to cross. Use caution if you ride here and be sure you have help.

 

WINDSOR COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Bridgewater                                                                                                                All trails along any Class III and Class IV Town Roads in Bridgewater are under close scrutiny. If there are any problems with snowmobiles at late hours, reckless riding or any other issues, all roads will immediately be closed to snowmobile traffic. This will shut off a number of corridor trails so please obey signage and operate safely or you will lose the priviledge of riding in this area.

There is also an on-going logging operation along Corridor 12 in this area. Use caution and yield to equipment in trail.

West Windsor
The West Windsor Moonlighters are announcing a 10:30 PM curfew on Corridor 5. Please respect the landowner wishes, as we are very fortunate to have this trail.  The north and south ends of the trail are marked so it can be bypassed by secondary trails for those snowmobiling after the curfew. Please watch for the signs.

 

 

Southwest Vermont Trail Closures & Alerts

BENNINGTON COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

Dorset
Snow Valley Ski Area under New Ownership.
The new owner of Snow Valley Ski Area has specific requests. A new trail is being cut up the side of the mountain along the westerly side of the property. This trail will be clearly marked. We MUST stay on this marked trail. The groomer access may be from a trail which will not be open to snowmobiles. If signed for groomer use only, DO NOT USE IT for snowmobiles. The new owner intends to have a private downhill ski area. We MUST stay off the rest of the mountain where he will be skiing.

There will be no trailer access nor access to Corridor 7 from the Snow Valley Road. It is gated at the intersection with Sylvan Ridge Road. Trailer parking and access will be at the 11-30 parking lot and Kendall Farm Road. Anyone riding off the marked trail will be trespassing and subject to a fine. Misuse of the trail on this property will cause our permission to be revoked! Without use of these trails, our north/south trail system (Corridor 7) will be cut off. Please cooperate with this new owner and STRICTLY obey all signing.

RUTLAND COUNTY TRAIL CLOSURES/ALERTS

West Rutland/Pittsford                                                                                             There is a trail closure on Corridor 4 between Pleasant Street in West Rutland and Route 4A in Ira (The Trolley Line). There is also a closure on Corridor 7/4 in Pittsford where the trail crosses Otter Creek. Both closures are indefinite and are due to flooding.

Goshen                                                                                                                  Corridor 7A between Silver Lake and Forest Dale has a curfew posted between the hours of 9 PM and 7 AM.  Snowmobiles may not travel this section of trail between these hours at the request of the landowners in the area. Shrewsbury
                                                                                                                 The feeder trail off from Corridor 4/7 between Intersections RD 65 and RD 71 has a curfew posted. The trail is well signed for the curfew. The alternate route around it is Corridor 4/7. Please obey the signs and plan accordingly.
